Harper College Community Music and Arts Center seeks a voice instructor to provide instruction in private lessons and group settings for children and adults. This position is expected to start ASAP. The position is dependent on enrollment and includes evening and weekend work, as well as attendance at recitals.
A bachelor’s degree in music is required. A master’s degree in music is preferred. Employment is contingent upon a Criminal Background Check.
Voice training and/or experience is required in at least three ofthe following styles: Rock, Jazz, Pop, Country, Bluegrass, Folk,R&B, Gospel, and Broadway. Successful prior teaching experienceand musical expertise required. Experience and passion for workingwith young children through adults. Performance experience isdesired, and the ability to accompany oneself on an instrument is aplus. Ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and demonstrate vocaltechniques to people of different ages, backgrounds, and experiencelevels. Must have a strong commitment to teaching and a genuineinterest in the life-long musical development of individualstudents: positive attitude, excellent communication skills, highstandards of quality, good judgment. Ability to teach classicalvoice is a plus.

Teach individual weekly lessons to non-credit students and childrenenrolled in the Community Music and Arts Center programs(30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute lessons). Collaborate and/orteach group classes, including InZone Summer Camp children’sclasses. Organize and maintain a consistent teaching schedule.Communicate schedules to the program’s coordinator. Preparestudents for performances and attend recitals. Integrate technologyinto the delivery of instruction. Attend department and facultymeetings. Attend CE Instructor meetings when requested.
