Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL A driver’s license with certs to pull 53ft trailers and current DOT.
• Valid CDL Class A/B license with a clean driving record.
• Previous yard jockey or similar experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of yard and trailer operations.
• Ability to safely operate yard trucks in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Safely move trailers and containers around the yard and loading docks, ensuring proper positioning for loading and unloading.
• Perform daily inspections of yard tractors and trailers to ensure safe and operational condition.
• Coordinate with warehouse and dock personnel to manage trailer locations and availability.
• Secure trailers by setting parking brakes, chocking wheels, and proper placement.
• Maintain a clean and organized yard, storing trailers and equipment safely.
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or damage to the supervisor immediately.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels and equipment cleanliness.
• Follow company safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in distribution responsibilities (forklift, loading/unloading, palletizing) when yard tasks are done.
• Contribute to team productivity goals while preserving safety.
