Job summary

The City of Zephyrhills is seeking a full-time garbage truck operator to collect residential and commercial waste. The role requires operating a garbage truck, transporting waste to designated disposal sites, and performing routine maintenance.

Candidate will supervise a small crew and handle related duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications include a GED or high school diploma, 2+ years of heavy-truck driving experience, and a valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years experience driving Class 8/heavy trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions and work with the public.
• Knowledge of safe operations and routine maintenance of equipment.
• Possess a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Operate a garbage truck to collect residential and commercial waste.
• Transport waste materials to transfer stations or disposal sites.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles/equipment.
• Supervise a group of semi-skilled workers.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
