Job description

Position Overview

The CDL Truck Driver –is responsible for the safe and compliant transportation of solid waste & recycling materials to and from designated facilities. This position requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements and a strong commitment to safety, environmental regulations, and company policies. The driver will play a key role in ensuring solid waste & recycling is handled, transported, and delivered according to federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Safely operate company vehicles, roll-off trucks, to transport solid waste & recycling as assigned.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, equipment, and cargo, documenting findings and reporting issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate logs, manifests, and shipping paperwork as required by regulatory agencies and company policies.
  • Follow established routes and schedules, communicating with dispatch to report status, delays, or emergencies.
  • Comply with all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), spill containment procedures, and emergency response actions as needed.
  • Interact professionally with customers, facility personnel, and regulatory representatives.
  • Participate in required training sessions related to solid waste & recycling handling, transportation, and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the safe and efficient operation of the solid waste & recycling transportation program.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training preferred.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of commercial driving experience.
  • Clean driving record for Insurance approval.
  • Valid medical examiners certificate.
  • Knowledge of DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations related to solid waste & recycling materials transportation and handling.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret manifests, procedures, and regulatory documents.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to pass background checks, pre-employment as well as random drug screening, and physical examinations as required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends when necessary.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Comfortable wearing PPE, gloves, and safety glasses.
