Job summary

Waste Management in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Commercial Driver to operate heavy-duty trucks for various lines of service. The role includes pre/post-trip inspections, safe operation under DOT and OSHA rules, and maintaining clean work sites at customer locations.

Responsibilities cover residential, commercial, and roll-off duties with emphasis on backing maneuvers, on-time pickups, and safety. Benefits include growth opportunities with on-the-job training and education assistance.

Qualifications

• 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports

Responsibilities

• Operates vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws
• Performs pre and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR
• Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch
• Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Route Manager
• Works closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices
• Notifies Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage
