Job summary

Clermont Transportation Connect is seeking a Vehicle Operator to join our full-time CDL team. You will operate transit vehicles safely, assist riders getting on and off, and maintain accurate trip records.

The position requires a valid CDL with passenger endorsement, knowledge of DOT rules, and the ability to work with the public. Shifts run Monday through Saturday, with early morning starts and variable hours; overtime possible.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with passenger endorsement required; knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Ability to work with the public and keep accurate records of trips and fares.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math (decimals, fractions, percentages).
• Physically able to perform duties in transit environments and lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate a transit vehicle per state and federal regulations with safety and customer service in mind.
• Assist passengers entering or exiting the vehicle as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of fares, fuel, miles, hours, and passengers transported.
• Perform daily pre-route vehicle checks and report issues to supervision.
• Coordinate with dispatch via radio for passenger issues, detours, and delays.
• Clean interior and exterior of vehicles and participate in safety programs.
• Report safety/risk issues to the supervisor; participate in cross-training as needed.
• Work alone or in teams on county projects; adhere to DOT/FTA requirements.
