Job summary

Republic Services is offering a Driver Trainee program in Huntsville, AL to obtain a CDL and advance to a Driver role across Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off. You will complete a comprehensive training program and gain the resources to pass the CDL exam.

Upon completion, you will transition to the Driver position, supporting on-route service and safe operation of heavy trucks, with ongoing development and career growth opportunities within the company.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a CDL.
• Completion of CDL training program with safe driving practices.
• Ability to perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections.
• Willingness to work on a route and serve customers.

Responsibilities

• Complete CDL training program with classroom study and on-route training.
• Complete twelve (12) months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections.
• Read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified by the dispatcher.
• Operate heavy or commercial truck per safety policies to load and unload waste.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers as required.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Maintain vehicle readiness and clean waste from packer blade and body on disposal trips.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL, perform Driver responsibilities in one of the lines of business.
