Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Driver Trainee in Maryland to be trained for a CDL and transitioned into a Driver role across Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off lines of business. The program includes classroom study, on-road training, and resources to take the CDL examination.

Upon successful CDL completion, you will remain with Republic Services for at least twelve months and continue in a Driver position within the company.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) without prohibitions.

Responsibilities

• Complete Republic Services' CDL training program, including classroom study and on-road training.
• Complete twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the assigned vehicle to ensure safety and proper operation.
• Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer.
• Learn to operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of material.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers per procedures.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Maintain vehicle readiness and minimize downtime; clean waste from packer blade and body.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• After obtaining a CDL, perform all responsibilities of a Driver in one of the Company's lines of business.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
