Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Crew Leader to supervise a team performing construction, repair, and preservation work on county roads and bridges.

You will ensure CDL pre-trip inspections are completed, coordinate training, input data into the maintenance system, and run reports while maintaining QA/QC checks. The role may require working extended hours or 12-hour shifts, including during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or approved acceptable equivalence.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Supervises construction, repair, and preservation activities of road and bridges within a county or district.
• Ensures CDL pre-trip inspections are completed prior to operating CDL vehicles; conducts training.
• Inputs data and runs reports in the maintenance data management system; performs QA/QC checks.
• Assists in preparation for QMT inspections and corrective action follow-up.
• Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports, time sheets, and cost records; may require extended hours or 12-hour shifts.
