Job summary

The Prince George's County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) seeks a CDL Operator I to safely operate light to medium construction equipment in road maintenance projects. The role involves outdoor work, routine inspections, and adherence to safety protocols at a Forestville, MD location.

Responsibilities include operating a range of equipment, supporting loading/unloading, and assisting with snow/ice control and emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of a standard grade school course.
• One year of experience operating light to medium motorized equipment.
• A valid Class A or B CDL with airbrake and tanker endorsements.
• DOT medical exam completed.
• Willingness to work outdoors in any weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate light to medium equipment such as street sweeper, bucket truck, chipper, street flusher, belt loader, sandblaster, and dump trucks.
• Transport personnel and materials to job sites and assist with loading/unloading.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and assist with maintenance.
• Support snow and ice control and other emergency activities as required.
• Follow safety protocols, set up barricades and traffic control as needed.
