Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local highway guidelines and practices for construction inspection and maintenance.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Ability to independently lead and coordinate a field crew.
• Must endure exposure to inclement weather and be able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways and rights-of-way.
• Ensure staff complete work assignments and report problems to supervisors.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure procedures meet INDOT standards.
• Perform winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on equipment and perform minor repairs.
