Job summary

R B Hinkle Construction Inc in Sterling, Virginia is seeking experienced Equipment Operators and CDL Class A or B Drivers to join our team, supporting underground utility construction through safe operation of heavy equipment and the transportation of materials to and from job sites.

Responsibilities include operating a variety of heavy equipment, performing pre- and post-operation inspections, adhering to safety regulations, reading project plans, and coordinating with supervisors.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Proven experience safely operating a variety of equipment.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret project plans and blueprints is a plus.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable transportation to and from the Sterling, Virginia office/yard.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, loaders, dozers, rollers, and graders in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment and complete daily maintenance checks.
• Transport materials, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites using CDL A or B licensed vehicles.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations while operating vehicles and equipment.
• Load and unload materials and equipment safely.
• Assist with general labor duties on job sites as needed.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and other personnel.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and equipment.
• Identify and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
• Follow project plans and specifications accurately.
