Job summary

MasTec Communications Group, a division of MasTec, Inc., is hiring a Skilled Laborer/Groundman to support aerial and underground outside plant telecommunications construction projects. The role involves FTTH installs, conduit, trenching, HDD, aerial work, pole work, and service drops, with compensation of $22–$28 per hour based on experience.

Requirements include a valid driver’s license, ability to obtain a DOT medical card, and the ability to lift up to 70 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a DOT medical card for driving purposes.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to read maps, drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
• Climbing certification or related experience is preferred (required for pole work).
• Overhead or underground outside plant fiber construction experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow direction from the Foreman or Supervisor to complete field labor tasks safely and efficiently.
• Assist with shoveling, brush clearing, site cleanup, landscaping, vehicle washing, loading/unloading, and material handling.
• Monitor excavation work to prevent utility strikes.
• Follow safety procedures and use required protective equipment.
• Operate or assist with trucks, trailers, and equipment, as trained.
• Handle inventory, tools, and equipment safely and follow jobsite procedures.
• Climb poles safely when trained and certified.
