Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking an Equipment Operator I - CDL for the Prince George's County facilities team. You will operate light-to-medium and some heavy equipment, perform construction and maintenance, and help keep parks and stormwater structures in good condition.

You’ll work under supervision with a focus on safety, teamwork, and efficient equipment use to support climate resilience projects across county parks and facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year of relevant light-to-medium heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements at time of employment.
• Successfully pass Commission medical examination.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment on projects requiring routine construction and maintenance work.
• Transport and haul materials to and from job sites using dump trucks and other equipment.
• Performs routine safety inspections and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Identifies equipment needs and coordinates with crew members on project tasks.
• Follows blueprints, engineering drawings, and stakes marked in the ground.
• Works with supervisors and project managers to review plans and establish work priorities.
