Job summary

Republic Services in Owensboro, KY is seeking a Driver Trainee who will be trained to obtain a CDL and then move into a Driver role across Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off lines. The program includes classroom study, on-route training, and the resources needed to take the CDL exam, including a loaned truck.

After obtaining a CDL, you’ll complete twelve months of employment and begin independent routes.

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Complete CDL training program, including classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and loan of a truck to obtain the CDL.
• Complete twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections per policy.
• Learn to operate a heavy truck on a designated route and service customers per route sheet.
• Learn to operate truck controls to lift/load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of material.
• Learn to identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers.
• Learn to monitor waste for unacceptable waste.
• Monitor vehicle readiness and clean waste from packer blade and truck body.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL, perform Driver duties in Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
