Job summary

Rural Metro Fire Department is hiring a Driver (Non-Emergency) for part-time per diem work. Starting at $29/hr, this role involves transporting ambulances, trailers, cars, and trucks across the USA with frequent night and weekend shifts.

Candidates must reside in NY, NJ, or PA and have a valid license, clean record, and the ability to pass background, drug, and agility tests; CDL preferred; will travel nationwide.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Pass background check with no felonies; case-by-case evaluation.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and agility test; ability to lift 80 lbs.
• Valid Real ID Driver’s License and clean driving record; DOT medical certification if CDL.
• Must be able to read/write/speak English; willingness to travel nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Transport equipment and vehicles using company trucks and trailers.
• Perform daily DOT safety inspections on company trucks, trailers, equipment and loads.
• Maintain documentation and invoices for vehicles, expenses, driver logs and DOT regulations.
• Plan efficient routes to minimize travel time and fuel use while following traffic laws.
• Document work/rest periods through E-Log system where applicable.
• Use straps and tie-down devices safely and replace worn ones.
• Report accidents or violations; handle long hours on road including night/weekend shifts.
• May work as part of a team on long-haul routes with shared driving duties.
