Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is hiring a local CDL driver in Houston to operate rear-load or automated trucks on designated routes. You will assist with loading, perform safety checks, and maintain DOT logs while interacting with customers along the route.

Requirements include a valid CDL, 21+ years old, and at least 1 year of commercial driving experience or CDL training. The role demands adherence to safety policies in outdoor, high-traffic environments.

Qualifications

• CDL required and valid.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
• Must be able to meet safety sensitive criteria.
• Ability to interact with customers and follow directions.
• Ability to read/map routes and use GPS navigation.

Responsibilities

• Drive rear-load, split body, curotto, or automated-side load trucks on routes to collect waste.
• Assist helpers with loading solid waste when needed.
• Back up using mirrors and navigational aids per policy.
• Ensure safety compliance and quality standards on route.
• Operate mechanical packer to compact trash for transport.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and logs.
• Interact courteously with customers and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain truck cleanliness and report spills around site.
• Maintain DOT logs and route productivity sheets.
• Back into spaces with care and use GPS to locate addresses.
• Follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
