Requirements
- Valid state CDL Class A or B Driver’s License with clear MVR and DOT record
- Must be 21 years old or older
- Must have current and valid Medical Certification Card
- Must have held CDL driving position the previous year with consecutive driving experience
- Must have high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
- Must have the ability to repeatedly lift up to 100 pounds of material for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb
- Ability and willingness to climb on a rooftop and ensure proper stacking (location based)
- Must be able to climb a 40’ ladder (location based)
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintain the cleanliness of vehicles
- Must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be able to pass a company required drug screening; all employees are subject to random drug testing per company policy.
Preferred
- Previous material handling a plus
- Previous forklift experience
- Certified to operate a crane is a plus
Essential Functions
- Responsible for loading or assisting in loading and securing materials on trucks daily. Verify quantities of material for accuracy.
- Drive the shortest distance to the job site, transporting load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Unload or assist in unloading materials by using forklift, crane, conveyor and/or by hand. Secure returning loads as appropriate prior to leaving job site.
- Climb up a 40‑foot ladder to assist in delivering materials on a roof up to 8‑12 degree pitch; ensure proper stacking and distribution of materials on the roof.
- Inspect truck daily and complete the DOT inspection booklet. Perform miscellaneous service duties such as checking oil, water, gasoline, and tire air daily. Report any maintenance malfunctions to the Warehouse Manager.
- Responsible for OSHA compliance as it relates to oneself and the company.
- Ensure truck is properly equipped for delivery. Operate motorized equipment according to state laws, including trucks, forklifts, and conveyors. Record daily mileage and fuel according to the required reports.
- Assist in taking inventory quarterly or as needed.
- Maintain warehouse, yard, and trucks in a proper presentable manner. Conduct minor repairs as needed.
- Responsible for safe handling of materials (wearing back brace, gloves, shoes, other safety devices). Responsible for safe operation of vehicles as it relates to customers’ property and Gulfeagle’s property.
- Aiding customers with materials, reporting problems with deliveries, service issues and all other tasks as needed.
Reports directly to Branch Manager and indirectly to the Regional Manager on branch and personnel issues. Reports indirectly to the Safety Coordinator regarding fleet, safety, and staff.
Education, Experience, and Licensing
- Valid state CDL Class A or B Driver’s License with clean driving record including: less than three points or one violation
- No DUI or DWI within the last three (3) years
- No revocation or suspension of Driver’s License
- Read, write, and comprehend English or Spanish as required by the branch location.
- Knowledge of roofing material and/or construction and distribution.
- One (1) year of driving experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb
- Must lift up to 100 pounds of material continually for up to two hours at a time.
- Ability to work on multi‑story building at various heights.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, rain or shine.
- Requires high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.
- Ability to maintain loyalty to Gulfeagle Supply.
- Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner. Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with customer personnel at delivery points.
- Ability to handle all functions of the job in a safe manner.
- Must meet Department of Transportation’s physical and medical requirements
- Must pass substance abuse screening; employees are subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.
