Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a professional tractor-trailer operator with a Class A license. Responsibilities include driving long distances, performing safety inspections, and handling freight or forklifts as needed. Expected to maintain logs, follow dispatch, and comply with DOT hazmat requirements.

Starting pay is $25.64 per hour. The role may involve overnight schedules and varying hours depending on operational needs, with opportunities to support city driver duties when necessary.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under DOT FMC regulations 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailers with ~100 lbs lift.
• Sitting for extended periods; bending, twisting, squatting, climbing.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions.
• Comply with hazmat regs and placarding per DOT rules.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• May perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Operate freight handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck) as required.
• Chain vehicle tires as needed.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
