Job summary

DeKalb County is seeking an experienced Crew Leader for the Solid Waste Management Department. You will lead a small crew in daily field operations, ensuring safe, efficient performance of solid waste and landfill tasks.

The role requires a High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related infrastructure experience. A Georgia Class B CDL is required, with possible Class A CDL/endorsements, and availability to obtain a DOT Medical Card where needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience in construction, repair, or maintenance of public infrastructure.
• Ability to lead a small crew and coordinate daily assignments.
• Valid Georgia Class B CDL; some roles may require Class A CDL and endorsements.
• Applicants must obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily field operations and support safe, efficient solid waste and landfill tasks.
• Coordinate daily assignments, organize priorities, and train team members.
• Monitor safety practices and troubleshoot field issues.
• Participate in completing assigned projects, and cover supervisory duties when needed.
• Operate or work around heavy equipment and vehicles used in Solid Waste Management.
