Job summary

160 Driving Academy is the largest CDL training school in the country with a network of yards across many states. As a CDL Class A Instructor Trainer, you will teach students from the first pre-trip inspection through to passing the CDL exam, in both yard and on-road settings.

You will be based at a designated yard, working with fellow instructors and a Lead Instructor, occasionally covering other regional yards.

Qualifications

• High school graduation certificate or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL with a minimum of 24 months of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience (Nevada exception: 5 years).
• The state where you obtained your driver’s license must match the state where you apply.
• Manual transmission experience and ability to teach it.
• MVR clean of violations and able to pass DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening.
• Background check clearance.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Residence in the applying state or relocation plans.

Responsibilities

• Teach Class A driving skills in outdoor yards using automatic and manual transmissions.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and on-road driving.
• Prepare students to pass CDL testing standards on the first attempt.
• Track attendance and student progress; provide extra support as needed.
• Maintain training records, evaluations and documentation.
• Report incidents to lead and corporate promptly.
• Deliver a consistent student experience with the curriculum; collaborate with lead instructors.
• Keep the yard and building clean and presentable.
• Cover for other instructors at nearby regional yards when needed.
