Job summary

160 Driving Academy is the nation's largest CDL training school, with 90+ yards across 32 states. As a CDL Class A Instructor Trainer, you teach students from pre-trip inspections to passing the CDL exam, in-yard and on-road. You’ll work with a team of instructors and sometimes cover at other regional yards.

Expect light yard upkeep and a home-at-night schedule. We offer merit increases, a monthly bonus pool, and various yard-based incentives.

Qualifications

• High school graduation certificate or equivalent.
• 1000 hours of training experience.
• Valid Class A CDL with at least 24 months of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience (state-specific requirements may apply).
• Residence in the applying state or confirmed relocation plan.
• Must meet all state instructor licensing requirements where applicable.
• 90-day probationary period at hire.

Responsibilities

• Teach Class A driving skills with hands-on training in yards and on the road.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and CDL testing.
• Prepare students to pass CDL tests on the first attempt.
• Track attendance and progress; provide additional support as needed.
• Maintain training records, evaluations, and documentation.
• Report incidents to lead and corporate in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with fellow instructors to deliver a consistent student experience.
• Help keep yard and buildings clean and presentable.
• Cover for other instructors at nearby yards when needed.
