PAY RANGE: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid CDL Class A license required.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
  • DOT Medical Card required (or must be obtained upon hire).
  • Heavy equipment operation certification(s) a plus but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to safely operate heavy machinery and commercial vehicles.
  • Skilled in loading/unloading and securing large or irregular materials and equipment.
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with basic mechanical functions and vehicle/equipment diagnostics.
  • Ability to read and interpret delivery schedules, load manifests, and GPS navigation.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of CDL driving experience and/or heavy equipment operation experience in construction or landscaping.

Position Overview

The CDL Class A Driver / Equipment Operator is responsible for transporting materials and equipment to and from job sites, as well as operating heavy equipment when needed to support field operations. This position plays a key role in fulfilling our commitment to exceed customer expectations by ensuring timely and accurate delivery, as well as safe and efficient loading and unloading of materials and equipment. The role involves operating company vehicles and various types of construction or landscape equipment in accordance with safety standards, DOT regulations, and company policies.

Essential Duties

  • Operate Class A CMVs (26,001+ pounds) to deliver materials and equipment to customer sites and job locations.
  • Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, loaders, or forklifts for loading and unloading materials and equipment.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of both vehicles and equipment, ensuring all are in proper working condition.
  • Load and secure equipment and materials for transport, following all safety regulations.
  • Maintain flexibility with schedules and routes, adjusting to traffic conditions, seasonal demands, and operational needs.
  • Communicate effectively with branch management, field crews, and customers regarding delivery progress or job site conditions.
  • Ensure all assigned vehicles and equipment are clean, fueled, and properly maintained.
  • Assist with general job site support and tasks when not driving or operating equipment.
  • Safety Expectations
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety protocols on job sites and during transport operations.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with DOT regulations and company standards.
  • Immediately report safety hazards, near misses, and equipment malfunctions to supervisors.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods and drive up to 12 hours per shift.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and secure materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to operate heavy equipment with manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
  • Capable of working in all outdoor weather conditions year-round.
  • Must be available to work 40+ hours per week, including early mornings, occasional evenings, and weekends as needed.
