Job summary

Dawn Foods is seeking a CDL Class A Driver to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. You will transport and unload bakery products from the distribution center to customer locations, adhering to DOT rules and Dawn standards, with safety and accuracy at the forefront.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license in good standing.
• Minimum 6 months Class A driving experience.
• Must be able to work in the United States.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be able to lift 50+ pounds frequently.
• Experience with MHE equipment is a plus.
• Lift-gate, reefer, pallet jack and forklift experience helpful.
• Computer skills or experience with electronic logs helpful.

Responsibilities

• Obey all federal, state, and local rules including DOT operating and safe food handling procedures.
• Conduct daily face-to-face interactions with customers in a friendly, competent manner.
• In a DSD setting, break down product and complete shelf stacking at each stop.
• Drive and maintain multi-temp trailers.
• Unload with electric pallet jacks and two-wheelers.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and collect invoice receipts.

Shift Schedule

• Sunday – Thursday: Dependent on route, average 5 days per week.
• Start Time: 4:00 am (dependent on route)
• Anticipated 12-14 hour days
• Routes will not exceed DOT hours.
• Weekend work may be required based on business needs.
• Minimum of 1 overnight (layover) route per week.

Job Purpose And Overview

As a Driver for Dawn Foods, you will support our customers by safely and efficiently transporting product from the distribution center by driving a tractor-trailer to various customers and properly delivering and unloading product according to customer invoices and Dawn team standards. This opportunity is a full-time and benefits-eligible position.

What Does It Take to be a CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods?

• Class “A” CDL License in good standing
• Minimum of 6 months Class A Commercial driving experience
• Ability to work in the United States
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must be able to lift 50+ pounds consistently throughout work shift
• Ability to operate MHE equipment
• Experience delivering into food service accounts is preferred
• Lift-gate, reefer, electric pallet jack and forklift experience helpful
• Computer skills or experience with electronic logs helpful

What will you do as a CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods?

• Obey all federal, state, and local rules and regulations of the road including all DOT operating, recording and safe food handling procedures
• Conduct daily face to face interaction with customers, representing Dawn Foods in a friendly, competent, and professional manner
• In a DSD (direct store delivery) setting, break down product and complete shelf stacking at each stop
• Driving and maintaining multi-temp trailers
• Offloading with electric pallet jacks/two wheelers
• Performing pre and post trip vehicle inspections as well as collecting invoice receipts that are generated from the deliveries

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 50 pounds frequently.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Ability to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Ability to withstand cool and/or cold temperatures.
• Normal setting for this job is outdoors and/or driving a video/GPS-monitored vehicle.
• Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday.
• Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat, and soy.
