Job summary

Dawn Foods is seeking a CDL Class A Driver to join our distribution team in California, driving tractor-trailers to customer sites and unloading per invoices.

The position is full-time, benefits-eligible, with an overnight weekly layover and early start times. You must have a Class A CDL, at least 6 months experience, be 21+, and be able to lift 50+ pounds; prior food-service delivery is a plus.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license in good standing is required.
• Minimum 6 months Class A CDL driving experience.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
• Experience with MHE equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and unload goods to customer sites per invoices and Dawn standards.
• Drive tractor-trailer in multi-temp environments and maintain safety.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections and complete delivery paperwork.

Shift Schedule

• Tuesday – Friday: Dependent on route, average 4 days per week.
• Start Times range from: 2:00 am – 4:00 am (dependent on route)
• End Times range from: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm (until the route has been completed)
• Routes will not exceed DOT hours.
• Weekend work may be required based on business needs.
• Minimum of 1 overnight (layover) route per week. (Potentially two, as schedule fluctuates.)

Job Purpose And Overview

As a Driver for Dawn Foods, you will support our customers by safely and efficiently transporting product from the distribution center by driving a tractor-trailer to various customers and properly delivering and unloading product according to customer invoices and Dawn team standards.

This opportunity is a full-time and benefits-eligible position.

What Does It Take to be a CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.

• Class “A” CDL License in good standing
• Minimum of 6 months Class A Commercial driving experience
• Ability to work in the United States
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must be able to lift 50+ pounds consistently throughout work shift
• Ability to operate MHE equipment
• Experience delivering into food service accounts is preferred
• Lift-gate, reefer, electric pallet jack and forklift experience helpful
• Computer skills or experience with electronic logs helpful

What will you do as a CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods?

• Obey all federal, state, and local rules and regulations of the road including all DOT operating, recording and safe food handling procedures
• Conduct daily face to face interaction with customers, representing Dawn Foods in a friendly, competent, and professional manner
• In a DSD (direct store delivery) setting, break down product and complete shelf stacking at each stop
• Driving and maintaining multi-temp trailers
• Offloading with electric pallet jacks/two wheelers
• Performing pre and post trip vehicle inspections as well as collecting invoice receipts that are generated from the deliveries

• Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday.
• Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat, and soy.
