Job summary

Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach CDL Class-A across main and off-site campuses. The role delivers non-credit coursework, coordinates scheduling and student assessment, and supports workforce education initiatives.

Candidates must be ready to teach both day and weekend sessions in person. Instruction will include coordinating, recruiting, and placing students into workforce and academic programs, with duties across advisory boards and objectives

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years non-teaching truck driving experience.
Current Class A CDL.
Knowledge of industry issues and practices.
Knowledge of DMV/DOT regulations.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and work independently.
Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, administer, manage, and deliver non-credit CDL programs.
Recruit, arrange work-based learning, and place students into workforce and academic programs.
Manage program advisory boards, define learning objectives, and evaluate learning outcomes.
Prepare and teach classes and create a student-oriented learning environment.
Must be available to teach day, evenings, weekends, and on- or off-campus classes in person.
Assist in recruiting, training, and supporting adjunct instructors.
