Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL-B driver to pick up and deliver between service centers and to customers in a professional, safe and timely manner. Responsibilities include operating straight trucks, securing freight, and coordinating with dispatch.

Role requires hands-on driving, ability to meet schedules, and adherence to DOT and hazardous materials regulations. Training and documentation duties are included, with earnings compatible with hourly rate shown.

Qualifications

• Must have valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) - Class B, hazardous materials and tank endorsements required.
• Must have one year experience in a straight truck or similar sized vehicle within last three years or completed FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must be twenty-one (21) years old.
• Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to read and understand route schedules.
• Must be able to follow instructions and complete required training.

Responsibilities

• Operate straight trucks.
• Ensure delivery schedules are met while providing/demonstrating friendly, professional customer service including the solicitation of new business
• Secure freight for pick-up and delivery using pallets, straps and rope.
• Perform daily pre-trip, post-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Load, unload, or assist in loading and unloading truck.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures and confirm placarding matches hazmat shipments.
• Chain vehicle tires, as required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
