Job summary

Bartlett Distribution Services is hiring a Driver - DOT Apprentice in Newark, NJ. You will drive a 26 ft refrigerated straight truck, deliver products to customers, and unload merchandise while complying with safety and DOT rules. Weekend and overtime work are required, with dispatch from 5pm to 8pm and on-route stops daily.

Requires valid CDL (Class A or B), DOT medical certificate, and ability to lift heavy loads. Competitive hourly pay and sign-on bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record.
• Interstate DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required.
• Must be able to pass a Clearing House query.
• Ability to unload 50–60 lbs boxes manually.
• Ability to push/pull 100–200 lbs with a hand truck.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime.
• English literacy required for safety and job communications.

Responsibilities

• Deliver product within assigned route schedule and time windows.
• Maintain compliance with Department of Transportation rules.
• Unload merchandise using hand trucks.
• Provide excellent customer service during delivery.
• Operate a 26 ft refrigerated straight truck across NYC, NJ and NY.
• Work flexibly across routes as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a delivery position responsible for driving a 26ft Straight Truck, delivering and unloading various products for our customers. Overtime hours, working weekends and holidays, and starting at various evening start times are required in order to successfully meet customers' needs.

SCHEDULES

• Dispatch times: 5pm-8pm (based on the needs of the operation)
• Weekends required (every Saturday and Sunday)
• Days off: Two consecutive days in the middle of the week
• Shift: 8-12 hours per day, approximately
• Stops per route: 8-12 depending on location and route
• Ability to work alone, no helper provided on route

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver product within assigned route schedule and time windows.
• Maintain Department of Transportation rules
• Unloading of merchandise by the use of hand trucks
• Provide an excellent customer service experience by meeting customer needs during delivery
• 21+ years of age
• Operate 26ft. Refrigerated Straight Truck throughout NYC, NJ and NY based on assigned route.
• Ability to work flexiable routes daily.
