Job summary

The Personnel Board of Jefferson County seeks a Refuse Truck Driver to operate a refuse truck along designated routes, perform vehicle inspections, and supervise a small crew of Laborers.

Responsibilities include loading garbage, transporting to landfills, maintaining equipment, and documenting daily activities; a strong CDL and route-navigation experience are required; outdoor work in varying weather is expected.

Qualifications

• Class B CDL required.
• Experience operating equipment requiring a Class B CDL.
• Experience following maps, GPS, or navigation instructions.
• Experience conducting pre-trip inspections on heavy duty equipment/trucks.

Responsibilities

• Operates garbage truck and related equipment to collect household garbage on designated routes.
• Operates a grapple truck to collect large bulky trash along routes.
• Transports trash to landfills for disposal.
• Oversees and directs crew members to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Maintains refuse truck operations through inspections and preventive maintenance.
