Job Summary
All drivers run daily routes with frequent stops and are required to load packages onto hand trucks and unload product at each stop on the assigned route in the order designated by the Transportation Department Manager. The candidate will operate successfully in a cross-dock model, picking up a loaded truck from a nightly delivery at the assigned loading dock and returning the empty truck back to the lot at the end of the route. May be required to assist with loading trucks, palletizing product, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
- Run routes efficiently, meeting or exceeding designated times.
- Unload product from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart, and place in designated customer storage areas, including transporting product down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions.
- Frequently lift, push, or move product weighing 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds; reach up to 72” to stack/unstack pallets and use a hand cart; bend and twist while loading/unloading and retrieving items from trailer.
- Verify delivery with customers and obtain signatures; contact management for invoice discrepancies; communicate errors/returns.
- Report if a customer does not receive their entire order (shorts).
- Handle customer complaints professionally.
- Operate company equipment properly, follow safety rules, and perform pre-trip inspections according to DOT regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
Education
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Experience
- One-year route delivery experience or relevant driving background with a straight truck.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License – Class B (Class A preferred).
- Ability to read and understand English.
Skills
- Operate vehicle in various traffic and weather conditions.
- Meet or exceed productivity and error goals.
- Strong customer relations and problem-solving skills.
- Plan and organize work independently.
- Knowledge of product and inventory control techniques.
- Maintain communication with departments regarding routing, safety, and customer relations.
- Effective communication and basic arithmetic skills; experience handling money is a plus.

Other Information
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs., infrequent lifting to 80 lbs.
- Ability to climb on/off the truck, and work in confined spaces.
- Frequent bending, squatting, pushing, pulling.
