Job summary

Clean Harbors in Baltimore, MD is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist CDL (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste at customer sites and facilities. This is a customer facing, field-based role across indoor and outdoor environments.

This entry-level management track includes accelerated training and opportunities to advance into salary management within 18 to 36 months, with work across 200+ locations and strong emphasis on health, safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL Class B with hazmat/tanker endorsements within 6 months
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to perform physical functions per job requirements
• Pass background check, drug test, and physical per position
• Compliance with OSHA respiratory protection standards

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests and disposal notifications
• Inspect staging areas for housekeeping and compliance
• Inspect drums for leaks, labeling, and compliance
• Package waste chemicals for disposal
• Coordinate field projects at customer locations
• Approve projects before shipment per OSHA, EPA, DOT policies
• Follow site-specific regulations and health and safety plans
• Understand customer disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements
• Sample and profile new waste streams as needed
• Ensure drum count and shipability of drums
• Operate vehicles per DOT and safety requirements
• Maintain company safety guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned
