Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in Middletown, PA is looking for a yard switcher to move trailers between the yard and doors and assist with loading/unloading of packages, by hand when necessary.

Requires a valid driver’s license and DOT file; CDL Class A is required to operate in interstate commerce. No prior experience required, but up to six months as a package handler or switcher is preferred. Role is full-time with an early morning schedule Tue-Sat; pay is $24.80 base rate per hour.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL Class A license required to operate in interstate commerce.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors as instructed; perform trailer switches.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management/central control.
• Document trailer moves using yard management system or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
