Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a Yard Switcher to move trailers and assist with loading/unloading in the yard. You will coordinate trailer movements with management, document each move, and conduct basic inspections to ensure safety and efficiency. No formal experience required; six months as a package handler or similar role preferred.

CDL–Class A is preferred for interstate work. Must be at least 21 and able to lift, push, and pull as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• CDL – Class A required to operate in interstate commerce.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers to sort packages correctly.
• Use of basic tools and equipment: skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to and from unload/load doors and yard.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management/central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow safe yard switching processes and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
