Job summary

Staffmark Group is hiring for a CDL A Yard Hostler in Fontana, CA. The role pays $24.00 per hour and offers day and night shifts, including a 5:00 AM–5:00 PM and 5:00 PM–5:00 AM window on Sundays through Tuesdays and Thursdays through Saturdays.

You will operate yard goats, switch trailers, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and uphold safety standards in a fast-paced yard. Applicants must have 1 year of yard hostling experience, a valid CDL A, and a current DOT Medical Card.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of yard hostling experience within the last 3 years.
• Valid Class A CDL and current DOT Medical Card.
• Experience operating a yard goat, terminal tractor, or hostler vehicle.
• Strong communication skills; able to work efficiently in a busy yard.

Responsibilities

• Operate a yard goat/hostler truck to move trailers throughout the warehouse facility and yard.
• Switch loaded and empty trailers between dock doors and designated yard locations.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Chock trailer wheels and maintain safe operating procedures at all times.
• Complete up to 60+ trailer moves per shift in a fast-paced environment.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, dispatch, and supervisors.
• Identify and report safety concerns, equipment issues, or yard hazards.

• Must be at least 22 years of age.

Driving Requirements

• Clean driving record with no more than 3 moving violations, at-fault accidents, or a combination of both within the past 36 months.
• No DUI or reckless driving convictions within the past 5 years.
• Ability to safely maneuver trailers in tight spaces and congested yard areas.
• Commitment to following all company safety policies and DOT regulations.
