Responsibilities:

Our Lansing, MI branch is seeking a full-time CDL-A truck driver. This first shift, Monday to Friday position is paid hourly (no flat rate) with occasional overtime. You will be home each night. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Timely delivery of equipment and basic truck maintenance
• Maintaining daily trip logs (electronic log book & electronic timecard)
• Using company-provided cell phone for timecard logging
• Completing paperwork accurately
• Providing exceptional customer service
• Managing workloads independently
• Proper completion and submission of all required paperwork
• Incorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Performing other duties as assigned

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of CDL-A truck driving experience; heavy haul experience preferred
• Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record
• Experience with trailer detachment and hydraulic ramps
• Knowledge of chaining and securing equipment
• Ability to operate forklifts and similar equipment
• Ability to hook and unhook trailers
• Must be able to operate manual transmissions
• Familiarity with computer programs like HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software, and Hyster contact management system
• Language Skills: Intermediate reading and interpreting safety rules, instructions, and manuals
• Mathematical Skills: Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with units of measurement and currency
• Reasoning Ability: Intermediate understanding to follow instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Moving and carrying chains for securing loads
• Climbing on and into trucks and trailers
• Regularly standing, walking, using hands; frequently talking/hearing; occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• No special vision requirements
• Lifting up to 10 pounds regularly; 11-25 pounds frequently; 26-100+ pounds occasionally
• Working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, outdoor weather conditions, and in wet, humid, cold, or hot environments
