Job summary

American Driver is seeking CDL-A trainees for a paid mentor program in the Baton Rouge area. The program runs 4 to 6 weeks with a mentor in the truck, plus guaranteed weekly pay and an orientation stipend.

After completion, you transition to solo pay rates with 2,200–2,800 miles per week on East of I-35 lanes and predictable home time (12 days out / 2 days home). Benefits begin after 30 days, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with ESPP.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid Class A CDL and DOT Medical Card.
• Graduated from an accredited CDL school or have under 6 months of recent OTR experience.
• Clean driving record and pass pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Complete 4–6 week paid mentorship with an experienced trainer.
• Transition to full solo pay rates after program completion.
• Drive OT R routes with 2,200–2,800 miles per week on East of I-35 lanes.
• Maintain safety and on-time delivery during training and after progression.

We are currently hiring CDL-A trainees directly out of Duplessis, Ascension Parish, and the surrounding I-10 corridor. Most carriers demand 1-2 years of experience before they even look at your application. EQUIPMENT & FREIGHT

• Assigned Equipment: 2022 or newer Kenworth or Freightliner (automatic, equipped with APU).

• 100% No-Touch Freight: Dry van loads, approximately 70% drop-and-hook.
• 2,200 to 2,800 miles per week average across East of I-35 lanes.

SCHEDULE

• 12 Days Out / 2 Days Home: True OTR setup out of the Duplessis area. Stable, predictable home time rotations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid Class A CDL and DOT Medical Card.
• Graduated from an accredited CDL school (120+ hours) OR have under 6 months of recent OTR experience.
• Clean driving record.
• Able to pass a standard background check and pre-employment drug screen.
