Job summary

State of Oregon in Bend is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Specialist 2 – Striping/Highway Maintenance Specialist for a split, limited duration position. You will operate heavy equipment, apply road striping, and assist in emergencies to keep roads safe.

The role rotates between Bend striping and Bend highway maintenance crews for six months each year, with potential to become permanent. A CDL-A with tanker endorsement is required or obtainable within 60 days, plus a valid US license and

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work.
• Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment and tools to maintain and replace roadway striping and legends.
• Remove existing paint using sand blasting or grinding equipment.
• Service and repair tools and motorized equipment.
• Assist with weather related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow from roadways.
• Maintain and repair roadways and highways.
