Job summary

American Driver LLC in Michigan is hiring Class A drivers for a Great Lakes regional fleet. You’ll run dry van freight around Michigan, Ohio and nearby states, about 1,500 to 2,000 miles a week, and you’ll be home every weekend.

Pay is $0.56 to $0.65 per mile based on verified experience, with about $1,100 to $1,500 per week. New CDL holders train with a mentor and earn $900 a week while they learn; after orientation you go solo with a $1,000 weekly minimum for the first 3 months.

Qualifications

• CDL-A license required and 21+ years old.
• Completed CDL-A training at a truck driving school (minimum 120 hours) or have 6 months OTR experience.
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years; no DUI/DWI in the last 10 years.

Responsibilities

• Drive Class A trucks on regional Great Lakes routes.
• Meet safety and DOT requirements and maintain compliance with hours of service.
• Coordinate with dispatch and ensure timely, accurate weekly pay and reporting.

Job description

We are hiring Class A drivers in Macomb County and the east side of Detroit for a Great Lakes regional fleet that brings you home every weekend. You run dry van freight around Michigan, Ohio and the surrounding states, about 1,500 to 2,000 miles a week, and average $1,100 to $1,500. Your first 3 months solo carry a $1,000 weekly minimum. New CDL holders train with a mentor and earn $900 a week while they learn. Drivers with 6 months or more of recent experience start solo after orientation.

Why weekends at home matter

Most first jobs out of CDL school keep you on the road for two or three weeks at a time. This one does not. You run the week, and you spend your weekend at home with your family. The freight stays in the Great Lakes region, so the miles are regional and the roads get familiar.

The numbers

• $0.56 to $0.65 per mile based on verifiable experience

The work

A mix of drop and hook, preloads, live loads and live unloads from hubs like Romulus, Brownstown, Center Line, Toledo and Battle Creek. Routes change week to week. Dispatch runs day and night. Winter is part of the job, and you will be ready for it before you go solo. You drive your own assigned truck, about 1.5 years old on average.

How you start

A recruiter calls and reviews your license and record. Orientation takes two days at most, with your hotel covered and your bus ticket paid back, and pays $300 once you are hired. New drivers then train 3 to 5 weeks with a mentor, about 200 to 250 hours, at $900 a week. With 6 months of OTR experience in the last 12 months, you go solo after orientation.
