Job summary

The City of Kannapolis is seeking a Construction Maintenance Worker to perform semiskilled construction and maintenance on streets, water, and sewer facilities under supervision.

Reporting to the Crew Chief, you will operate a range of equipment, assist with installation and repair work, and help with erosion control, landscaping, and vehicle maintenance. The position is subject to DOT rules and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of safe use and maintenance of equipment.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods under varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and perform semiskilled construction tasks on public facilities.
• Assist in installing and repairing water and sewer lines and related facilities.
• Assist with pothole repairs, street resurfacing, and erosion control.
• Perform landscaping and cleanup at job sites.
• Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance and on-call duties.
