Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking tractor-trailer drivers to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-point locations. The role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat/tank endorsements and a minimum of one year of recent experience, plus a clean MVR and DOT compliance. LCV qualifications may apply in specific states.

Expect mileage and hourly pay, with benefits including medical and retirement options. Overnight stays may be required depending on schedules and routes.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• 1 year of experience within the last 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 383/390.
• LCV qualifications for certain states; ability to handle triple trailers where applicable.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and breakdown sets of trailers that require lifting.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to work independently and show initiative.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations (including doubles/triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports; maintain logs.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate weather, delays, or problems.
• Comply with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Load and unload freight as required; assist as needed.
• Provide safe, timely delivery between service centers and turn-points.
