Job summary

Salt City Trucking in West Haven, CT seeks a CDL-A Local Driver to operate dedicated local frozen grocery shuttle routes. Home daily with a Monday–Friday schedule and no NYC deliveries.

Drop-and-hook, no-touch freight with occasional store transfers and backhauls; 5–10 runs per day, 3 minimum; automatic slip-seat trucks; uniforms provided. Benefits include a sign-on bonus and daily home time.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Minimum 6 months of verifiable truck-driving experience.
• Clean driving record.
• Valid DOT Medical Card.
• No SAP drivers.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to perform pre-trip inspections and inspect tractor and trailer tires.
• Safe, legal driving practices and strong customer-service skills.
• Flexibility to assist with store deliveries and other account work when needed.

Responsibilities

• Dedicated local frozen grocery shuttle operation.
• Shuttle refrigerated trailers from the Westfield, MA facility to relay yards in Milford and West Haven, CT.
• Approximately 5-10 shuttle runs per day, depending on destination.
• Minimum of 3 shuttles per day.
• Drop-and-hook, no-touch shuttle freight.
• May also handle store transfers, trailer moves, local backhauls, or assist other accounts.
• Occasional supermarket deliveries may involve 2-3 stops per trailer, electric pallet jack unloading, product returns, or backhauls.
• No deliveries in NYC.
• Automatic slip-seat trucks; drivers share equipment with opposite-shift drivers.
• Trucks cannot be taken home; reliable daily transportation is required.

• Average Weekly Pay: Approximately $1,346
• Sign-On Bonus: $5,000
• Schedule: Monday-Friday
• Start Times: Approximately 3:00-4:00 PM
• Home daily
• Sixth-day work may be required during mandatory holiday periods, potentially for three consecutive weeks
