Job summary

Phoenix Metals Company is seeking a Local Driver to start routes around 5am Monday through Friday, with 10–13 stops per day and returns to the yard by 3pm–5pm. A Class A CDL is required, and a road test must be completed.

The role involves transporting merchandise and materials, following FMCSA regulations, and maintaining accurate records. This position emphasizes safety, proper cargo securement, daily vehicle inspections, and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred.
• High School diploma/GED preferred.
• Valid CDL per assigned vehicle type required.
• Road test required.
• Ability to meet insurability standards.
• FMCSA drug/alcohol clearinghouse requirements.
• Meet driver qualification per Federal regulations.
• Meet MVR quality criteria per Federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial vehicles >26,001 lbs GVWR delivering/picking up items to regional/local destinations on schedule.
• Drive safely and perform safety-affecting activities on trucks weighing 10,000 lbs or less when required.
• Secure cargo and use tarps as needed.
• Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions safely.
• Load and unload vehicles as required.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections (FMCSA) and log DVIR.
• Use electronic logging device (ELD) to log daily activities.
• Record inspection details and report any defects to supervision.
• Read bills of lading and manifests to determine details.
• Ensure all load-related documents are complete and receipts generated as needed.
• Adhere to safety processes and protocols.
