Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation seeks a Heavy Construction Equipment Operator for the Kane County, St. Charles team to maintain roads, bridges and related infrastructure.

You will operate CDL Class A vehicles and various heavy equipment under supervision. Minimum qualifications include two years of highway equipment operation and one year of driving without incidents, plus eighth grade completion.

Qualifications

• Requires two years of experience operating highway construction equipment.
• Requires one year driving experience immediately preceding appointment free from incidents that could result in license suspension or revocation.
• Completion of eighth grade or higher.

Responsibilities

• Operates CDL Class A licensed vehicles including maintenance trucks and heavy road Equipment.
• Operates sweepers, backhoes, loaders and other heavy equipment.
• Performs labor related to roadside maintenance.
