Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional Driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers and to support the selling process.

The role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat/tank endorsements, the ability to operate long combination vehicles, and strong safety and documentation practices. You will handle freight with various equipment, ensure secure loads, and provide excellent customer service in a dynamic regional setting.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• Minimum 1 year experience within the most recent 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.
• LCV experience in listed states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT) and meet minimum standards.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations including doubles (and triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Perform freight handling with forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or equipment problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service and provide leads to sales.
• May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires or other duties as needed.
• May perform road driver or dock duties when operationally necessary.
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required
