Job summary

CJ Hughes Construction, Inc. is seeking a CDL Dump Truck Driver for gas distribution to support underground pipelines and related services. The role combines about 20% CDL driving with 80% labor tasks in outdoor construction settings.

The position requires handling heavy lifting, operating dump trucks, securing loads, and assisting the crew with site preparation. Candidates must have CDL and a DOT medical card, with a preference for a High School diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL-A or B Driver’s License (required) (no restriction)
• Minimum 1 year CDL driving experience
• Minimum 1 year heavy labor experience
• Valid DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain)
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Operate CDL-required vehicles including dump trucks, trailers, and equipment haulers over 26,000 lbs
• Haul equipment, pipe, materials, and debris to and from job sites
• Load, unload, and secure materials using chains, straps, tarps, and other tie‑down methods
• Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and complete required documentation
• Maintain driver logs when required
• Assist crew with labor duties including digging, shoveling, and site preparation
• Perform heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
• Work in various weather conditions and job site environments
• Follow all safety policies and procedures while maintaining awareness in the “red zone”
• Necessary maintenance on truck (grease truck) if needed.
• Perform duties as assigned by supervisor to support overall crew production and efficiency
