Job summary

McLane is seeking a Driver Trainee to learn essential driver functions and support distribution to customer locations. You will gain exposure to warehouse operations as part of developing into a full driver role.

The program includes hands-on training, progress toward a Class A CDL within six months, and a pathway to significant earnings after training. Comprehensive benefits begin on day one, with opportunities for growth in a nationwide network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less.
• Ability and willingness to load/unload and/or deliver all products.
• Stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish tasks.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities.
• Communicate with customers, management, and teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer and use related equipment.
• Read, write, and understand English at a functional level.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Inspect equipment for defects and report DOT issues.
• Document delivery receipts and conditions with Driver Delivery Handheld.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn regulations and driving procedures.
• Maintain driver logs as required by DOT.
• Assist in unloading and delivering product to customer premises.
