Job summary

McLane is seeking a CDL-A Driver Trainee to start a rewarding career in transportation. You’ll receive paid training, hands-on coaching, and a clear path to becoming a licensed McLane Driver.

You’ll work in a safety-first environment with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits from day one. During training you’ll earn $21.00 per hour, advancing to $90,000–$95,000 per year after training, plus the company’s broad benefits and long standing industry leadership.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet McLane's MVR and risk rating qualifications.
• Able to load/unload and deliver products as required.
• Read/understand labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities.
• Communicate with customers, management and teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer and operate related equipment.
• Ability to read/write English at a functional level.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely according to regulations and company policies.
• Inspect equipment and submit DOT inspection reports.
• Document deliveries with the Driver Delivery Handheld and verify product temps.
• Shadow Driver Trainer to learn regulations and driving techniques.
• Maintain driver logs per DOT regulations.
• Assist in unloading and delivering products to customer sites.
• Provide on-time, undamaged deliveries and handle customer credits.
