FedEx Freight, Inc. in Des Plaines, IL is seeking a Truck Driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or straight trucks, and perform dock duties as needed. You will complete daily logs and follow Dispatch instructions while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires a valid CDL or CLP, a clean MVR, DOT regulatory knowledge, and the ability to lift around 100 pounds and work independently or with a team. Overnight schedules may apply.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of ~100 pounds.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles &/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and company procedures as required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Where needed, perform city driver or freight handler duties.
• Use forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck for freight handling as needed.
• Chain vehicle tires as required.
• Comply with laws and company policies; perform other duties as required.
