Job summary

GFL Industries in Northwood, OH seeks a CDL A driver to transport, remove, deliver, and collect hazardous wastes from customer sites. You will load/unload and operate various trucks as needed.

Responsibilities include safe vehicle operation, DOT compliance, and maintaining accurate logs and documentation. Overtime and weekend work may be required; valid work authorization in the United States is required.

Qualifications

• CDL A license with clean driving record.
• Tanker endorsement encouraged; hazmat endorsement preferred.
• Ability to drive manual transmissions.
• Overtime and weekend availability as required.
• Experience with government documents such as manifests; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Transport, load, unload, and maneuver vehicles at customer sites while keeping areas clean.
• Perform pre-/post-trip inspections and ensure DOT compliance and hazmat guidelines.
• Complete driver logs, manifests, bills of lading, and load documentation accurately.
• Maintain professional communication with customers and team; report defects promptly.

Job description

This driver will transport, remove, deliver, and collect various liquid and solid hazardous wastes from various customer sites. Will be required to load and unload trucks. They will also have the ability to operate a variety of truck and equipment including vacuum trucks, box trucks, and any other equipment that fits their license on site if necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations & Delivery: Safely transport, load, unload, and maneuver vehicles into position at customer sites while keeping work areas clean.
• Safety & Compliance: Conduct pre-/post-trip inspections and ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, hours of service, and hazardous materials guidelines.
• Documentation & Logs: Complete and maintain driver logbooks, manifests, bills of lading, and load documentation accurately.
• Communication & Support: Maintain professional communication with customers and team members, report defects/accidents promptly, and assist with training as needed.

Requirements

• CDL A with clean driving record.
• Tanker endorsement required, hazmat endorsement highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Familiarity and experience working with government documents such as manifests.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
• Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs required.
