Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a CDL A driver to transport hazardous wastes to customer sites. You will load, unload, and operate various trucks and equipment, with emphasis on safety, DOT compliance, and accurate documentation.

Weekend work and overtime may be required. Benefits include PTO, medical plans, 401(k) with match, and EAP. Valid work authorization is required where the job is located.

Qualifications

• CDL A with clean driving record.
• Tanker endorsement preferred; hazmat endorsement highly preferred.
• Must be able to drive manual transmissions.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Familiarity with government documents such as manifests.

Responsibilities

• Operations & Delivery: Safely transport, load, unload, and maneuver vehicles at customer sites.
• Safety & Compliance: Conduct pre-/post-trip inspections and follow DOT regulations and hazmat guidelines.
• Documentation & Logs: Maintain driver logs, manifests, and bills of lading accurately.
• Communication & Support: Interact professionally with customers and team; report issues promptly.

Job description

Pay: $25-$28/hr Based on Experience

This driver will transport, remove, deliver, and collect various liquid and solid hazardous wastes from various customer sites. Will be required to load and unload trucks. They will also have the ability to operate a variety of truck and equipment including vacuum trucks, box trucks, and any other equipment that fits their license on site if necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations & Delivery: Safely transport, load, unload, and maneuver vehicles into position at customer sites while keeping work areas clean.
• Safety & Compliance: Conduct pre-/post-trip inspections and ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, hours of service, and hazardous materials guidelines.
• Documentation & Logs: Complete and maintain driver logbooks, manifests, bills of lading, and load documentation accurately.
• Communication & Support: Maintain professional communication with customers and team members, report defects/accidents promptly, and assist with training as needed.

Requirements:

• CDL A with clean driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Familiarity and experience working with government documents such as manifests.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
• Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs required.
